19 Objective of the Course: To give and to discuss the following issues with students: 1. Factors (such as norms, values, positions, roles, functions, power relations, personalities, ends-means) need to be addressed for sociologically studying the role of the instituton of religion in socio-cultural reality environment. 2. How is different the various sociological approaches on the institution of religion. 3. Various researches and studies on the aspects of institution of religion in Turkey and around the world.

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Comprehending some basic concepts (such as power relations, value, norm, position, role, function, conflict, action/behaviour, personality, actor, ends-means) in the context of institution/field of religion.;
2 Comprehending some explanation, comprehension and understanding forms of some classical and contemporary sociological approaches on the institution/field of religion. ;
3 Comprehending the relations and interactions between religious institution, field, practices, roles, values, norms, groups etc. and other institutions, fields, practices, values, groups etc. (such as economic, political etc.) ;
4 Comprehending the relations between social-cultural changes and the institution of religion. ;
