19 Objective of the Course: The main purpose of this course is to evaluate the developments and changes in the Late Byzantine and Early Ottoman Period

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To have ability to evaluate the geography of the world;
2 To have ability to evaluate the usage of the land forms by people;
3 To have ability to analyze effect of the geography to the political and economic developments during the world history;
4 To have ability to evaluate of the usage of the Anatolian geography by the people during the historical process.;
5 To have ability to evaluate the effects of the geography to the political events and civil life in the Anatolia.;
6 To have ability to analyze the characteristics of the settlements as the city, town, village etc in the Anatolia.;
7 To have ability to analyze the historical developments of the administrative units as Province (Eyalet) Sancak (Subprovince) Nahiye (district) etc in Anatolia.;
8 To have ability to analyze the dimensions of the effects of the historical processes in region to the people and the geography.;
22 Course Content:

1 Land forms in the early periods of world history.
2 Changes in geographic forms during the historical process
3 The human-geography relations in early periods of the World.
4 The developments of the relations between human and geography in the Anatolia.
5 Arrivals of Turks to the Anatolia
6 The effects of the Anatolian geography to the Turks
7 The using forms of the Anatolian geography by the Turks
8 Yaylak (summer Pastures), Kışlak (winter quarters), Güzlek (autumn quarters) ve baharlık (spring quarters)
9 The transition to settled life of the Turks
10 The settlement forms of the Turks
11 Administrative segmentation of geography made by the political organization of the Turks
12 The formations of the Eyalet (province), vilayet, kaza (juridical district), nahiye (small district) and Divan.
13 The forms of settlements as mahalle (neighborhood), çarşı (bazaar), cadde (street) and bahçe (garden).
14 The characteristics of the settlements as the Şehir (City), kasaba (town), köy (village) and Mezra.
