19 Objective of the Course: To give and to discuss the following issues with students: 1. The different preconceptions of some basic sociological approaches about socio-cultural reality. 2. Relationships between socio-cultural system and institutions, general characteristics and functions of the institutionalization process, institutional power, institutional technology, institutional control, institutional change and crisis, institutional ideology, institutional influence (factors of norm, value, status, community, role, etc.) on the personalities and actions of social actors. 3. Within the framework of some main sociological approaches the definitions, modern forms, functions, structural elements, relationships and interactions with each other, and affects on personalities of the primary social institutions (policy, economy, education, religion, family, health, arts, etc.) 4- Make a historical analysis of the concept of culture and cultural institutions to assess the perspectives they produce as a cultural resource.

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Comprehending characteristics and functions of institutions, institutionalization process, stages, and dimensions in socio-cultural reality environment. ;
2 Comprehending the main factors (norm, value, position, status, role, function, action, power relations etc.) need to be addressed in order to study the institutions within the framework of sociological concepts and approaches.;
3 Comprehending the differences of basic contemporary sociological approaches on social institutions.;
4 Comprehending by some various aspects of institutions in Turkey and around the world within framework of some contemporary sociological approaches.;
