19 Objective of the Course: Students know the religious movements in the todays Islamic world. Students also gain the ability to interpret the religious sources in a systematic way, thus gain the ability to critically evaluate religious movements in the Muslim world.

1 Have the scientific research ethic in the area.;
2 Know the contemporary religious movements and their ideas. ;

4 Can make new suggestions using the classical and the modern sources;

7 Revivalist movements in the Indian subcontinent
8 Ahl al-Qur’an, Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamaat al-Tableegh
9 Modernist approaches: Syed Ahmad Khan and Syed Ameer Ali
10 Fazlur Rahman and his Influence on Modern Islamic Thought
11 Islamist Movements in Turkey
12 The Gulen Movement, Suleymancilik, Naqshi groups
13 National Vision (The Erbakan Movement)
14 Globalization and its Influence on the modern Muslim world
