19 Objective of the Course: Theoretical conceptions of the performing arts and their applications

1 Recognising the connection of the ancient cultures with performing arts;
2 Recognising the connection of the performing arts with other arts;
3 Recognising the different kinds of the performing arts and their characteristics;
4 The cultural and historical frames of the environments, where the performing arts raised;
5 Terminology of the opera, ballet, circus happening and other performing arts;
6 Learning the artist and their work from different kinds of performing arts;

1 General definition of the arts, performed on the stage.
2 Performing arts in the ancient cultures
3 Definition of ballet/dance, terminologies, historical development and its connection to the other arts
4 Definition of opera, its historical development, connections to the other arts
5 The position of opera and ballet among the performing arts and its influence on other arts
6 Theatre, its definition and importance in the ancient cultures; Ancient Greek theatre and dealing with the “tragedia”
7 Midterm - Review
8 “Komedia” and satiric performances in the Ancient Greek Theatre
9 Roman Theatre
10 Theatre and other scenic arts in the mediaeval and renaissance
11 Post- renaissance theatre; authors and artists influenced recent theatre
12 Emergence of the theatre of the bourgeoisie, romantics and modern theatre
13 Importance of the modern theatre, its position among the other arts, significant artists and influence on the other arts
14 Emergence and development of the modern Turkish theatre, traditional turkish performing arts
