19 Objective of the Course: To get student comprehend main methodological principles and points of view in historical studies.

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 The ability to comprehend modern methods of historical studies.;
2 The ability to comprehend what critique o history is and how it should be done.;
3 The ability to evaluate the meaning of historical source and kinds of sources.;
4 The ability to evaluate the importance of point of view in history.;
5 The ability to comprehend the content and importance of the division in history.;
6 The ability to comprehend the sciences relevant to history and how to use them.;
7 The ability to explain the process of analysis in historical studies.;
8 The ability to distinguish where to find historical sources and how to use them.;
9 The ability to practice the process of synthesis (via seminars) in historical studies. ;
10 The ability to comprehend the sense and logical approach in the critique of history. ;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 The importance of the methodology in historical studies.
2 Definition of the critique of history. Is history a science? Are there principles of history.
3 The difference between historical truth and historical reality, and the problem of objectivity.
4 Historical sources, traces of the past and the problem of evidence.
5 How to reach historical sources. Discovery of documents (heuristique).
6 Elements of historical criticism (external and internal critique), excessive criticism, leaving out the sense.
7 The situation of having too much or unique evidence and historian’s attitude when there is no evidence.
8 Ethic of the historian
9 The relation between history and relevant sciences. Relevant disciplines to understand the sources.
10 Relevant sciences to determine and define the facts
11 The place of biographies in historical studies, the role of great leaders in history.
12 The problem of division in history (time, place, theme).
13 Definition of human geography and its effect on historical facts.
14 The processes of analysis and synthesis in historical studies, and composing the work.
