19 Objective of the Course: It aims to educate and mature young individuals on the basis of morality and values so that they can develop their close relations with each other and with the society and their psycho-social duties in identity development in a positive and constructive manner in mutual trust.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development 1. The candidates who will become Religious Culture and Morals teachers first become aware of their own moral and value developments and gain the knowledge of evaluating the problems of the student according to his / her development. 2. It ensures that students have knowledge about the necessary theories and scientific researches to have a healthy moral development process and to transform moral rules into behavior.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 He understands the importance of ethics and values in terms of human psychology and mental health by understanding the theories and researches;
2 He knows and recognizes the historical development of morality and values of psychology and the views and concepts of important theoreticians.;
3 He comprehends the concept of morality and the psychological and sociological development of the moral maturity and the factors affecting it.;
4 He learns and interprets with the cause and effect relationship that increase of disorders in societies where morals and values are weak such as corruption, injustice, crime, increase in drug use, family coexistence and loss of disorder and depression and anxiety;
5 In Islamic tradition, he comprehends moral theories and its application and benefits from our tradition by discussing its projections in these days.;
6 He knows and recognizes the theories and practices of modern psychologicalmorality development;
7 He can comprehend and assess the cross-cultural comparison of practices of morality and values psychology.;
8 Teacher candidates when they are teachers understand the psychological and sociological problems related to moral development and values of students and suggest solutions.;
9 He knows that the main values losing importance in the society and he can do psychological analyzes so that he can be reintroduced them to young people.;
10 He can discuss and make suggestions about the restructuring of moral life and values, which are the basic building blocks of positive mental health.;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 Basic concepts of morality and values: What are the concepts of morality, ethics and value? What is the nature of morality?
2 How are morals and values explained in terms of philosophy, psychology, and social psychology? What method should be followed?
3 Moral and moral theories in Islamic thought. Value system and basic approaches in the Islamic tradition.
4 Moral thought and values in Western tradition. Comparison of Western and Islamic moral thought. Cultural differences and differences of opinion
5 Psychological and social psychological theories of morality. Explaining the development of morals and values
6 Relationship between religion and moral. The meaning of religion in moral psychology. Contemporary debates and differences of opinion.
7 Factors affecting moral maturity: Psychological aspect of moral behavior and values: Morals and values psychology
8 Today, basic problems of individual and social morality and solutions.
9 Basic concepts of the psychology of morality and values: Generosity, compassion, forgiveness, humility, tolerance, etc.
10 Impairment in moral attitude and values. Individual and social weaknesses and destructiveness: My narcissism, envy, vanity, stinginess, lies and deception, ridicule
11 Moral life and values in terms of happiness and positive mental health.
12 Education moral relationship: The place and meaning of morals and values in education.
13 Change in morals and values from modern to post modern. The effects of social change on morality and values.
