19 Objective of the Course: The aim of the course is provide students basic methods with foreign policy models in order to analyze the foreign policy goals, strategies, and actions of one, two, or more countries.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development This course, which aims to teach the analysis methods of foreign policy strategies, contributes to the professional careers of both students who plan an academic career in the field of international relations and those who plan to be employed in the staff of various institutions in the public sector, especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other related Ministries.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To be able to identify the basic concepts, instruments and models for comparative study of foreign policies (model, typology and theory);
2 To be able to distinguish different approaches that is emerged in historical development of the method of comparative foreign policy analysis;
3 To be able to apply the four basic levels of analysis of foreign policy to sample case studies;
4 To be able to make comparative study of countries with a method of comparative foreign policy analysis;

1 Comparison as introduction
2 Historical outlook on comparative foreign policy models
3 Scientific research framework: introducing instruments such as model, typology and theory
4 Development of comparative foreign policy analysis method, the emergence of issue area approach
5 Comparative foreign policy analysis within the framework of decision-making theories (“Polyheuristic” decision-making theory will be examined)
6 Comparative foreign policy analyses within the framework of constructivist models
7 Comparative foreign policy analyses within the context of linkage policies (levels of models and theories)
8 Interactions between domestic factors and foreign policy and Comparative foreign policy analysis (domestic factors level)
9 Comparative foreign policy analysis from inter-state level
10 Comparative foreign policy analysis from individual decision-making level
11 Comparative foreign policy analyses from system level I (alliances/balance of power and foreign policy comparisons within the context of realist approach)
12 Comparative foreign policy analyses from system level II (international cooperation forms and foreign policy comparison within the context of liberal approach)
