19 Objective of the Course: To obtain sufficiency and necessary knowledge about animal welfare and to teach general strategy of farm animal welfare and welfare on the farm, during transport and at slaughter
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development Awareness is raised to ensure standards of animal welfare in professional practices.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Learns definitions and concepts related to animal welfare; Interprets the responsibilities on providing animal welfare;
2 Evaluates the problems of animal welfare ;
3 Evaluates the relationship between animal welfare and animal behavior; Learns the relationship between physiological parameters and animal welfare;
4 Learns the principles of farm animal welfare;
5 Learns the Legislation relating to animal care and welfare, animal movement, and notifiable and reportable diseases ;
6 Assess the principles of disease prevention and the promotion of health and welfare;
7 Assess the physical condition, welfare and nutritional status of an animal or group of animals and advise the client on principles of husbandry and feeding ;
8 Advise on, and implement, preventive and eradication programmes appropriate to the species and in line with accepted animal health, welfare and public health standards;
9 Research methods, the contribution of basic and applied research to veterinary science and implementation of 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement). ;
10 The structure, function and behaviour of animals and their physiological and welfare needs;

5 Animal welfare and physiological parameters
6 Determination of physiological responses against pain and distress
7 Relationship with animal welfare, behaviour and physiology.
8 General strategy on animal welfare
9 Broiler welfare on the farm
10 Laying hen welfare and alternative housing systems
11 Farm animal welfare on the farm
12 Farm animal welfare during transport
13 Farm animal welfare during slaughter
