19 Objective of the Course: Main purpose of the course is to have the students the ability of reading Ottoman Turkish language.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development For the studies about Ottoman Medical history, this course gives the ability of reading Ottoman Turkish Language.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To comprehend the importance of the Ottoman Turkish.;
2 To grasp the importance of the historical documents.;
3 To be able to understand the terms and phrases used in historical documents.;
4 To get knowledge about the documents written in Ottoman period and the types of these documents formed according to the centuries.;
5 To know historical sources.;
6 To comprehend the method of use of the dictionaries being reference works.;
7 To be able to read documents in Ottoman Turkish Language.;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 General information about the Ottoman Turkish and alphabet and its importance for the historical researches.
2 Vowel points, grammatical features of the letters, reading of the letters.
3 The syntax of the Tukish vowels, fetures of the consonants. Reading Text: "İstiklal Marşı ".
4 The syntax of the Turkish pronouns, writing of suffixes of the letters. Reading Text: "Lisans".
5 The Syntax of the Arabic and Persian vowels. Reading Text: "Peri Kızı ile Çoban Hikayesi".
6 Case endings. Reading text: "Kuyruk Acısı".
7 Suffixes of possession. Reading Text: Havuçlu Pilav Meselesi”.
8 Turkish constructive suffixes. Reading Text: “Mehlika Sultan”.
9 Defining the Arabic words.
10 Identification of the Arabic and Persian words. Reading Text: “Oğlumuz”.
11 The month names in Arabic. Reading Text: “Sekiz yüz elli Yedi.
12 The numbers in Arabic. Reading Text: “Tenbel Ahmed”.
13 Plural endings in Arabic. Reading Text: “Bir Guguklu Saatin Azizliği”.
