19 Objective of the Course: Its goal is to provide light on the political, socioeconomic, demographic, and psychological consequences of epidemics such as plague, malaria, cholera, smallpox, syphilis, and influenza on human societies throughout history.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development The way epidemics are understood, treatment approaches, and precautions taken in various cultures will be assessed.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To be informed about significant pandemics throughout history.;
2 To comprehend the multifaceted effects of epidemics on societies.;
3 TTo associate the explanation of the causes of epidemics with the history of mentality.;
4 To explain the phases of epidemic emergence, fluctuation, and extinction.;
5 To understand the history of public health policies for controlling and preventing epidemics.;

1 Explanation of concepts such as endemic, epidemic, and pandemic related to the grading of epidemic diseases.
2 Evaluation of the literature on the history of epidemics
3 The plague and how it spreads
4 Major plague outbreaks in history
5 Traditional civilizations' explanations for epidemics: the plague as an example
6 Social impacts of the black death
7 Malaria and cholera epidemics in history
8 Smallpox and colonialism
9 The use of epidemics as biological weapons in history
10 Traditional treatment approaches to epidemics
11 Pandemics in the modern world: Spanish flu
12 Epidemics in the modern world: Syphilis
13 Early public health practices
