19 Objective of the Course: In addition to the general achievements about the city phenomenon in the historical geography, to provide understanding of the functions and land use characteristics of Ottoman cities according to their periods.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development Will be able to express the functions and land use characteristics of classical Ottoman city and modern period Ottoman cities comparatively. Will be able to evaluate the geographical space from a historical perspective.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 The concepts of historical geography, historical space, historical place and time will be taught.;
2 The general characteristics of the Ottoman city and its constituent elements will be comprehended;
3 Similar and different aspects between the Ottoman city and the Central Asian Turkish cities and the Islamic city will be taught.;
4 The functions and land use characteristics of the classical period Ottoman city will be taught.;
5 The factors and events that caused the change of the 17th century Ottoman settlement order and structure will be taught.;
6 The main problems and modernization efforts in Ottoman cities in the 18th and 19th centuries will be taught.;
7 The functions and land use characteristics of modern Ottoman cities will be taught.;

1 Basic concepts such as historical geography, historical place and historical place, time.
2 Basic resources on Ottoman urbanism.
3 General characteristics of the Ottoman city and its constituent elements.
4 The relationship between urban life and rural life in the Ottoman Empire.
5 Similar and different aspects between Ottoman city and Central Asian Turkish cities and Islamic city.
6 The main elements that determine the physiognomic characteristics of the classical period Ottoman city.
7 Classical period Ottoman city functions and land use characteristics.
8 The concept of neighborhood in the classical period Ottoman city.
9 Classical period Ottoman city administration
10 Factors and events that caused the change of 17th century Ottoman settlement order and structure.
11 The main problems and modernization efforts in Ottoman cities in the 18th and 19th centuries.
12 Major reforms in modern Ottoman urbanism
13 Functions and land use characteristics of modern Ottoman cities.
