19 Objective of the Course: Information on the prehistorical pottery form the beginning to the early iron age
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development By giving basic information about Prehistoric Age ceramics (from Neolithic Period to Bronze Age) terminology, construction techniques, dating criteria, the invention of the potter wheel, the student will be correctly approached to prehistoric ceramics.

Week Theoretical Practical
1 Terminology of Prehistoric Pottery. The role of pottery in the cultural history.
2 Production techniques
3 The methods of classification
4 Monochrome Neolithic pottery; examples from Çatalhöyük
5 Chalcolithic pottery: painted pottery traditions from Mesopotamia
6 Chalcolithic pottery: Anatolian traditions; Canhasan and Hacılar
7 Neolithic and Chalcolithic traditions in Marmara Region: Fikirtepe Pottery
8 Middle Chalcolithic, Vinça elements.
9 Late Chalcolithic pottery.
10 Early Bronze Age: Eastern Anatolian pottery
11 Early Bronze Age: western Anatolia
12 Middle Bronze Age/Early Hittite/Early Assyrian pottery
13 Late Bronze Age/pottery of Hittite Empire
14 Dark Ages and Early Iron Age Pottery
