19 Objective of the Course: The aim of this course is to identify the general features of instruments and to acquire the skill and discipline in taking care of instruments in any situation in order to be able to use the instruments more efficiently.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development Music teacher gaining knowledge, skills and proficiency in instrument maintenance and repair.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To be able to acquire the features of the instrument, its manufacture stages and maintenance for the increase in the control of the instrument.;
2 To be able to carry out daily, monthly and yearly maintenance of instruments.;
3 To be able to identify the environment in workshops where instruments are made and to be able to learn how to use the tools for maintenance.;
4 Bow instruments. To be able to identify the trees used in the production of the instruments. To be able to maintain and protect instruments.;
5 Claviers. To be able to identify the parts forming the instruments and the materials used in their production. To be able to put into practice the necessary conditions about the chord and maintenance of the instrument.;
6 Stringed instruments. To be able to identify the parts forming the instruments and the materials used in their production.;
7 Wind instrument. To be able to identify the parts forming the instruments and the features of the materials used in their production. To be able to keep the maintenance of the instrument and take care of its cleaning. ;
8 Pulsatile instrument. To be able to identify the parts producing the instruments and to be able to form the necessary conditions regarding the maintenance of these instruments. ;
9 To be able to form conditions such as chord, maintenance and climate of the instruments.;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 Introducing the aim, content, targeted behaviours and function of the instrument maintenance course with the students. Main technical information about instruments.
2 Stringed instrument. Parts which form the instrument. How the sound is produced and its stages.
3 The parts of the bow, its functions and the stage where these parts are changed with the new ones. Noticing the problems that occur on the bow.
4 Claviers. Parts (case, resonance board, internal mechanic, strings etc) which form the instrument.
5 Practice in the maintenance and sound features of the instrument (cleaning, moisture, deafness etc).
6 Stringed instruments. The parts which form the instrument. The materials used in production and the introduction of these.
7 The maintenance of the instrument and changing the parts which are faulty. Forming the chord of the instrument (noticing the cracks, forming the tone control, changing the chord pegs etc).
8 General Evaluation.
9 Wind instruments. Introducing the instrument generally and presenting its parts.
10 Noticing the faults in the parts and taking care of them. General maintenance and cleaning.
11 Pulsatile instruments. Introducing the parts which compose the instrument and forming the chord of the instrument.
12 Forming the necessary climatic conditions in order to protect the instrument. General maintenance and cleaning.
13 General Evaluation.
14 The solution of technical problems and general revision.
