19 Objective of the Course: To acquire knowledge about composers and their stylistic properties by examining the periods of music.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development To comprehend the history of piano, the composers who have written music for piano and to acknowledge historical, structural and musical aspects of the piano literature.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To be able to explain the stylistic properties of Renaissance and Baroque periods.;
2 To be able to give information about the general properties of Classical period music and Vienne school composers.;
3 To be able to explain the stylistic properties of Romantic period and its piano music.;
4 To be able to know the composers who wrote piano pieces in Romantic period.;
5 To be able to explain the stylistic properties of Russion piano music.;
6 To be able to explain the effect of impressionism on music.;
7 To be able to give information about the 20th century piano music.;

1 A general look at Renaissance music (1300-1600)
2 Baroque Period (1600-1750) and Baroque music and interpretation of Baroque music with keyboard
3 Music and pieces of J.S. Bach, piano music and sonatas of D. Scarlatti
4 General properties of Classical Period and the Vienna School (1750-1800)
5 Piano music of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert
6 Romantic period (1800-1900) and short parted forms that appeared in that period
7 F.Chopin and his influence on piano music
8 Piano music of F.Liszt, J.Brahms and R.Schumann
9 Russian piano music
10 Impressionism (1880-1930); Debussy and Ravel
11 Piano music of Debussy and Ravel
12 "French Six" (Les six) and piano music
13 General look at 20.th century piano music
14 Piano music in Turkey
