19 Objective of the Course: The purpose of this course is to identify problem adolescent behaviors in contemporary world, and to develop skills to cope with these behaviors.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development This course provides psychological counselors with knowledge and skills to recognize problem behaviors that may be seen in adolescents and to plan and carry out psychological counseling and guidance services to be given in this regard.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Be able to understand the concept of social skills;
2 Be able to describe the role and importance of social skills in human life;
3 Be able to know the characteristics of popular and unpopular students;
4 Be able to list social skills;
5 Be able to know social skills assessment techniques;
6 Be able to know the techniques used in social skills training;
7 Be able to develop skills to be able to plan and implement social skills training groups;
8 Be able to plan and implement a social skills training activity;
9 Be able to use social skills in daily life;
22 Course Content:

1 Introduction: scope, importance, rules and requirements
2 Assessment of social skills
3 Techniques used in social skills training
4 Planning and conducting social skills training groups
5 Effective listening rules, attention to nonverbal behavior for effective listening; listening carefully; and improving environmental monitoring skills
6 By developing non-verbal behaviors (facial expression, body posture, tone of voice), improving the comprehension skills of others and understanding empathy, using this while listening to others; understanding emotions in messages sent by others; understanding the perspective and feelings of the other person; using positive statements; recognizing and expressing the good and strong aspects of others
7 Finding suitable ways to attract the attention of others; before joining a group, its structure (understanding its activities, purpose, rules); developing the skills to enter a group / event; realize negative emotions that may prevent joining a group and turn them into positive emotions
8 Coping skills with exclusion, understanding which activities can be excluded; taking care of daily care; to understand the importance of being well-maintained
9 Developing skills to cope with anger, mocking or peer pressure
10 Realizing that different feelings and emotions can be experienced in the same situations; respect people with different feelings and thoughts; to understand and compromise that respecting differences will reach agreement in disputed situations
11 Understanding aid situations and ways to help; Noticing the feelings of giving and receiving help; ability to support and encourage; understanding the need and consequences of waiting in line
12 Sharing games and items with friends; cooperation
13 Thinking positively about yourself and expressing it; recognizing the positive and strengths of others and expressing it
14 Evaluating and terminating the social skills training program positively

Information This course provides psychological counselor candidates with the opportunity to review and develop their own social skills, as well as to gain knowledge and skills in planning, implementing and evaluating preventive, developmental and remedial trainings aimed at improving social skills in students at various educational levels.
