19 Objective of the Course: The aims of the course are to making students conscious of language as a dynamic system; introducing the basic concepts of linguistics, recognizing the components of a language.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development Learning the basic concepts, principles and terms of linguistics will enable the student to understand the structure of French and improve their French language skills.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Understand the language system as object and subject of the Linguistics.;
2 Recognize the basic concepts in Linguistics. ;
3 Recognize the basic concepts of communication. ;
4 Understand and use the functions of language. ;
5 Know the natural languages’ properties. ;
6 Compare French and Turkish in terms of their language structure. ;
7 Gain the main theories developed in the field of Linguistics and the historical development process.structures; and to utilize the similarities and the differences in foreign language training.;
8 Understand the general theories in language acquisition and foreign language teaching. ;

1 Presentation of the program and objectives of the course. Definition of Linguistics and its fieds.
2 Language ability (Langage) and (langue) language, language (langue) and parole
3 Various social usage in the language (Registres et niveaux de langue)
4 Mains topics of the «Cours de Linguistique Générale», the dichotomies: language and parole, synchronic / diachronic approaches
5 Paradigmatic and syntagmatic relations, form and substance, system and value.
6 Structuralism and general principles
7 Linguistics sign and properties
8 Evaluation. Extra linguistics signs (indice, signal, symbol and icon)
9 Communication: the schema and components
10 Jacobson, the language functions
11 Language families
12 Classification of languages by their structural properties
13 Linguistics and language acquisition
