19 Objective of the Course: The introduction of the physiotherapy profession, its historical development and its place and importance among other health professions, the fields of study and physiotherapy organizations are to give information to the student.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development Ability to comment on behaviours and practices adhering to universal and professional principles. Gets to know her profession more closely.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Can define the physiotherapist.;
2 Defines physiotherapy and rehabilitation education and working areas.;
3 Gains knowledge of the legal regulations regarding physiotherapy and rehabilitation applications.;
4 Knows the principles of multi / inter / trans-disciplinary teamwork and the role of the physiotherapist in the team.;
5 Can define a psychosocial rehabilitation perspective.;
6 Has basic knowledge about general changes in the Turkish healthcare system, management autonomies and reforms in hospital organizations, standards and studies of the World Federation of Physiotherapy (WCPT) regarding physiotherapy profession service and management.;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 Definition and development of physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Physiotherapists roles and characteristics.
2 Physiotherapy and rehabilitation content and application areas. Principles of teamwork and the role of the physiotherapist within the team.
3 Concepts, stress and post-traumatic stress disorder in the field of psychosocial rehabilitation.
4 Psychosocial approaches in disadvantaged groups (problems seen after traumatic injuries (amputees, spinal cord injuries, burns), neurological diseases, problems that cause disability in children, progressive chronic diseases (cancer, AIDS), geriatric people, physical, visual, hearing, speech impaired people).
5 For physiotherapists: Laws, regulations, regulations and policies; finance issues and repayments.
6 Introduction to management and organization Management functions: planning, execution, decision making, coordination, organization.
7 Management and organization in physiotherapy and rehabilitation in the world. Physiotherapy and rehabilitation management and organization in Turkey.
8 The concept of ethics (what is ethics, ethical rules) What is deontology? Ethical concepts and research ethics in physiotherapy and rehabilitation. Deontology in relations between healthcare personnel, healthcare personnel, patient-healthcare personnel, patient relatives-healthcare personnel.
9 Ethics and law concept. Professional deontology and international ethics declarations.
10 Ethical principles of physiotherapists. Ethical problems and solutions in physiotherapy (examples).
11 Depression and ways to cope. Disease and health concepts. Healthy lifestyle, lifestyle changes and the role of the physiotherapist.
12 Giving information about the general changes in health systems, management autonomies and reforms in hospital organizations, standards and studies of the World Federation of Physiotherapy (WCPT) regarding physiotherapy profession service and management.
13 Rehabilitation in specialized areas - student expressions (cardiopulmonary, prosthesis-orthosis, swallowing, pediatrics - adult neurology, oncology, etc.)
14 Rehabilitation in specialized areas - student expressions (orthopedics, athletes, spine, hand surgery, women's and men's health, rheumatology, etc.)
