19 Objective of the Course: The aim of this course is to discuss the issue of eliminating inequalities with the support of technology in a period when disadvantaged groups among the social inequalities are even more disadvantaged. The main topics of the course are the definition of disadvantaged groups, the introduction of disadvantaged groups, the current social inequalities and its effects on disadvantaged groups, supporting disadvantaged groups with information technologies, how information technologies should be privatized to support disadvantaged groups, and discussing case studies.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development In a period when disadvantaged groups are more disadvantaged by social inequalities, they will have information about eliminating inequalities with technology support.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 The main topics of the course are the definition of disadvantaged groups, the introduction of disadvantaged groups, the current social inequalities and its effects on disadvantaged groups, supporting disadvantaged groups with information technologies, how information technologies should be privatized to support disadvantaged groups, and discussing case studies.;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 Discussion of the course syllabus and determination of preliminary information about the subject
2 Social science (Sociology) purpose, scope, basic concepts, working methods and target audience (showing the big picture with a concept map) Topic for discussion: What is science and what features make a science field a science field? Can we apply the criteria to the science of sociology?
3 What is social inequality, what are its types and sources? Topic for discussion: What are the examples of social inequality you see in your life or work environment? Why do you think these are social inequality? Topic for discussion: Social inequality arises from different reasons for each group, what do you think are the similarities and differences of these sources?
4 Brief history of technology (in the agrarian age, industrial age, and information age). The development stages of information technologies (starting with ENIAC in the 1940s and continuing with ARPANET and the internet), the relationship between technology and society, society or technology changes, technology changes society? Topic for discussion: How do you think the field you work in has contributed to the change in society or how society has changed your field?
5 Gender-based disadvantaged groups and technology Topic of discussion: What could be the contribution of information technologies in eliminating gender-based social inequalities?
6 Disabilities (physical and mental) and technology Topic for discussion: How can information technologies contribute to the integration and support of people with disabilities in society?

8 Seniors and Technology Topic of discussion: How can information technologies be utilized to increase the quality of life of elderly people in the society? Try to consider every aspect of your life while discussing this question.
9 Children and Technology Discussion topic: In which areas can information technologies contribute to facilitating the lives of children between the ages of 0 and 12 and supporting their cognitive development?
10 Immigrants and Technology Topic for discussion: How can information technologies help improve living conditions in the country where immigrants and their children are located?
11 Low socio-economic level and Technology Topic of discussion: In which areas should policies be developed to ensure that the poor have access to technology that is fair for the public and without wasting resources?
12 Technology-based threats to disadvantaged groups Topic for discussion: What are the Internet security problems for disadvantaged groups? What kind of measures can be taken to eliminate these problems? How do you ensure that these measures do not lead to social inequality?
