19 Objective of the Course: The aim of this course is to recognize the basic concepts of art and aesthetics, to have an idea about art and art criticism and to gain a perspective on the social history of art.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development To know the basic concepts of aesthetics, to understand the ideas of thinkers on art and aesthetics, to recognize the arts and to understand art criticism.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Students who complete this course can define basic concepts related to art and aesthetics.;
2 Explain the separation process of arts and crafts and the formation process of the fine arts system.;
3 Can interpret the relationship between artwork and artist.;
4 Can explain the relation of art with historical, social and economic structure.;
5 Understand the relationship between art and everyday life.;
6 Have an idea about different approaches in the field of art.;
7 Gains knowledge of the branches of fine arts and works of art.;
8 Can look at the artist and the artist with an aesthetic eye.;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 Introduction to aesthetics. What is aesthetics? What are the scope and purpose of aesthetics are answered.
2 Aesthetic subject (subject) What is an aesthetic object (object)? The concept of beauty in Aesthetics. Thoughts of ancient philosophers on beauty. What is beauty in art? How should it be?
3 What is the aesthetic value? What is aesthetic taste? What is aesthetic perception? What is aesthetic pleasure? Samples are read from the works of art and the opinions of the thinkers.
4 Senses in the aesthetic perception process. What is aesthetic reception? What is aesthetic judgment? Questions are answered.
5 Among the aesthetic theories: Mimesis and Katarsis theories. Recognition of philosophers' thoughts on these theories.
6 Introduction to the relationship between art and aesthetics. What is an artist? What is a work of art?
7 Recognition of samples and their features from Visual Art, Phonetic Art, Rhythmic Art and Mixed Art.
8 Art and everyday life, the place of art in social context.
9 What is a work of art / work? What is the purpose / function of art? Creativity in art.
10 Who is the aeshtetic subject? What is the context of art and the language of art?
11 What are the basic elements of music (sound, rhythm, melody, harmony)? Recognition of the main examples of music.
12 What are the basic elements (color, line, light) of painting? Recognition of the main examples of painting.
13 Sculpture art, phases, periods of sculpture art, development of sculpture art from past to present. (Recognition of major examples from Egyptian, Greek and Roman sculpture)
14 Architectural Art, civil architecture, religious architecture, historical and cultural development of architectural art based on use and materials (wood, stone ...). Recognition of examples from architectural works.

Measurement and Evaluation Techniques Used in the Course The student is evaluated with multiple-choice and classical questions (rating scale) prepared by the instructor. The midterm, final and make-up exams of this course are carried out by the instructor with an exam consisting of multiple choice questions.
Information This course is evaluated in absolute terms on the basis of Bursa Uludağ University Associate Degree-Undergraduate Regulations in line with the decisions of the academic board.
