19 Objective of the Course: The purpose of this course is to teach the subjects of the relationship between character and personality, education and character development of the individual;family and school environment in character development and education; the definition and classification of values; the culture of coexistence and cultural diversity in character and value education; value education in Turkey, practices and research related to Turkish education and culture; teachers as a role model of character and values education.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development This course enables prospective teachers to improve their personality thanks to appreciation of values and reflect it into their occupation.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Learning the concepts such as character, personality/individuality, value, virtue, morality, temperament;
2 Learning the definition and classification of values;
3 Learning the approaches and practices of character and value education ;
4 Learning and explaining the character and value education in terms of educational philosophy and goals;
5 Learning the examples about value education from the history of Turkish education and culture, knowing practices and research on values education in Turkey.;

2 Conceptual framework: Character, personality /individuality, value, virtue, morality, temper, temperament etc .;
3 Definition and classification of values;
4 Sources of values and individual, social, cultural, religious, moral foundations of values
5 Character and Values Education in Terms of Educational Philosophies and Objectives
6 Approaches and practices of character and value education
7 Teaching methods and techniques in character and values education
8 Teacher as a role model in character and value education
9 Character development and education; family in character development and education
10 The role of school and environment in character development and education
11 Intercultural differences and culture of coexistence in character and value education
12 Value education in humanitarian-cultural development process
13 Examples of value education from the history of Turkish education and culture
14 Values education practices and research in Turkey
