19 Objective of the Course: Providing educational information in cultural context about the structures of percussion instruments used in Traditional Turkish Music and their implication field, demonstration of theorical information about the formation of basic measures, practicing finger exercises reinforcing to works that is comprised of basic measures and etude practices appropriate for the level; performing works that is given appropriate to the level by forming rhythm compositions; providing theorical information about the formation of mixed measures and reinforcing with sampler works, practicing finger exercises which are reinforcing to works that is comprised of mixed measures and etude practices appropriate for the level, doing practices of measure speeds from largo to presto, performing the works given appropriate to the level forming rhythm compositions.

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Recognizing percussion instruments used in Traditional Turkish Music ;
2 Knowing bendir (frame drum) instrument and comprehending holding positions. ;
3 Being able to make types of right hand and left hand basic beats.;
4 Comprehending basic tempo knowledge.;
5 Comprehending basic, compound and mixed measures.;
6 Performing rhythm compositions given at basic, compound and mixed measures by oneself and in a group.;
7 Being able to play given exercises at the optimal beat. ;
8 Being able to understand and repeat measurement and tempo knowledge of Traditional Turkish Music played.;

Week Theoretical Practical
1 Handing techniques, proper handing, acquiring “düm” and “tek” sounds on right and left hands.
2 Practices in values of 4, 8 and 16
3 Practicing together with compositions written in given value.
4 Definition of basic measure and practices in basic measure.
5 Definition of compound measure and practices in compound measure.
6 Definition of mixed measure and practices in mixed measure.
7 Definition of concept of fundamental tempo. Practices in tempo of Nim Sofyan and Semai tempo from Traditional Turkish Music.
8 Practices in tempo of Sofyan and Turkish Aksak (cantillatory) tempo from Traditional Turkish Music.
9 Practices in tempo of Yürük Semai and Devr-I Turan tempo from Traditional Turkish Music.
10 Practices in tempo of Düyek and Aksak (cantillatory) tempo tempo from Traditional Turkish Music.
11 Practices in tempo of Evfer and Aksak (cantillatory) tempo from Traditional Turkish Music.
12 Performing the compositions in which Traditional Turkish Music tempos.
13 Performing the compositions in which Traditional Turkish Music tempos.
