19 Objective of the Course: This course aims to inform acteristics of Eastern - Western knowledge, theories about the process of modernity-postmodernity, terms of modern-postmodern, modernity-postmodernity, colonialism- postcolonialism, orientalism, multiculturalism.

1 Learns comparing modernism-postmodernism.;
2 Learns the terms about the comparing modernism-postmodernism.;
3 Learns postmodernist theories.;

1 General definition of modernism and postmodernism and the relation between of them.
2 Historical and political conditions of postmodernism.
3 Roots of postmodernist theories in the modern thought and age of enlightenment.
4 Relation between poststructuralism and postmodernism.
5 Critique of reason and subjectivism.
6 Theory, narrative and righteousness.
7 Postmodern language + Midterm
8 Essentialism/ anti-essentialism.
9 Causality/ anti-causality
10 Deconstruction
11 Intersubjectivity
12 Pervading of modernism, discussions of postmodernism as a new phase.
13 Consequences of postmodernism in sociology, potentials of a postmodern sociology.
