19 Objective of the Course: To describe the principles of general surgery and significant general surgery diseases, to gain the information and talent about clinical findings, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of these diseases.

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 General surgery principles. ;
2 The important general surgical diseases of the domestic animals.;
3 Aetiology, pathogenesis, clinical findings, diagnosis, prognosis and correct treatment of these diseases and disorders frequently shown in domestic animals.;
4 The correct and appropriate treatment of these diseases, considering the economical aspect of animals.;
5 How to utilize theoretical and practical knowledges learnt during this course to the Small and Large Animal Surgery Courses in following semesters. Basic knowledge about activity areas of Surgery.;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 Aims of the course. Introduction of course notes and books. Asepsis, antisepsis, Sterilization, Disenfection, Surgical Instruments. Usage of antiseptics in clinic, Significant antiseptics
2 Injection (intradermic, subcutaneous, intramusculary, intravenous), Incison (basic, complex, with guide, without guide) Desenfection, Sterilization methods
3 Punction, Drainage, Dressing, Bandage Explanation of surgical instruments (instruments will be learn to be classify according to properties)
4 Surgical sutures, Suture materials and Suturing techniques (simple interrupted, continuous, horizontal matress, vertical matress, X sutures) Injections (General principles, Intradermic, Subcutaneous, Intramusculary, Intravenous techniques)
5 Evaluation of inflamation from clinical aspect. Acute and chronic abscess Injections (General principles, Intradermic, Subcutaneous, Intramusculary, Intravenous techniques)
6 Gangrene-Necrosis, Burnst, Freezing Application of perfusion
7 Atrophy, Stenosis, Cyst, Dilatation- Diverticulum, Hypertrophy- Hyperplasia, Incision (simple, compound, with guide, without guide)
8 Wound: Aetiology, Classification. Treatment, Healing and Complications of Wounds Incision (simple, compound, with guide, without guide)
9 Ulcus, Fistula, Hernia Suture techniques (simple interrupted, continuous, horizontal matress, vertical matress, X sutures)
10 Bursitis, Heamatom, Oedema Suture techniques (simple interrupted, continuous, horizontal matress, vertical matress, X sutures)
11 Phlegmon, Muscle and tendon diseases (Miyositis, Tendinitis, Tendovaginitis) Punction (with needle and scalpel), Drainage technique
12 Diseases of blood and lymph vessels (Phlebitis, Lymphangitis) Blood collection, heamostasis methods
13 Diseases of nervous tissues (Neuritis, Paralysis), Joint diseases (Arthritis) Dressing and bandage (simple) application
14 Surgical diseases of bone tissue (fracture, luxation,ostitis) Dressing and bandage (simple) application
