19 Objective of the Course: The main aim of this course is to obtain both historical perspective and experience in the application of economic analysis to major issues.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Students will be able to obtain both historical perspective and experience in the application of economic analysis to major issues;
2 Students will be able to obtain methodological tools to understand the big changes in economic history;
3 Students will be able to learn the social and economic history of the Roman Empire, the impact of urbanisation, imperialism;
4 Students will be able to learn socio-political economic structures of European countries: serfdom and feudalism, urban guilds;
5 Students will be able to understand how the medieval Western European economy evolved from an essentially rural, agrarian feudal economy to a much more urbanized and modernized capitalist economy;
6 Students will be able to learn the origins of modern industrial revolution;
7 Students will be able to learn how the world economy got to be where it is today, focusing on economic and social structure;
8 Students will be able to learn the origins of world economy in the nineteenth century and learn about late industrialized countries;

5 The circumstances which led to the industrial revolution
6 The technological changes and the industrial revolution
7 The results of the industrial revolution
8 Demographic, social and economic structure in Europe after industrial revolution
9 The economic changes in the 19th century
10 The expansion of the industrialisation
11 The international economic relations in the 20th century
12 World War I and economic effects
13 The great depression and its effects
14 The changes in the world economy in the second half of the 20th century The changes in the Eurpopean economic life
