19 Objective of the Course: The course aims to give the students the necessary skills and knowledge for conducting scientific research in the field of social sicences. In this sense, the course introduces the student with the rules and principles of making a scientific research design, managing the required literaure review, conducting field work and presenting research findings.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To comprehend the basic concepts and principles regarding science and scientific research.;
2 To be able to compare and analyze different types of scientific research.;
3 To be able to manage the selection of research topic and prepare the tentative reserach outline.;
4 To be able to identify the scientific value of sources reached during the process of literature review.;
5 To be able to follow the rules of ethics for scientific research and to use the scientific writing style in the preparation of the report.;
6 To learn the rules of giving references and using footnotes in the preparation of a scientific report.;
7 To be able to prepare the research report in line with required format.;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 The definition of science and the classification of scientific disciplines
2 Scientific method and its stages
3 Main principles of scientific method
4 Types of scientific research and their classification
5 The selection of the research topic, refinement of the topic and the preparation of the tentative research outline.
6 Techniques of data collection in scientific research and how to make library search.
7 The identification of the scientific value of sources reached during literature review. (Midterm Exam)
8 Written presentation of the research-I: Scientific language and writing the report
9 Written presentation of the research-II: Formatting principles
10 Written presentation of the research-III: References and scientific ethics
11 Written presentation of the research-IV: The rules of using footnotes
12 Written presentation of the research-V: The rules of giving referenes
13 Rules of formatting like font style and size, page margins, line spacing etc. and their usage in word processing programs.
14 The complementation of the report and the preparation of its presentation.
