19 Objective of the Course: To introduce primary sources of Ottoman economic history in terms of their appearence and inhalt and to show how to evaluate them wiht examples.

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To be able to grasp main tenets of Ottoman economic thought. ;
2 To be able to explain the Ottoman states tools of economic intervention and the organization of production;
3 To be able to evaluate the main problems of Ottoman economic history and the periods of transformations.;
4 To be able to analyze the effect of european price revolution upon Ottoman economy.;
5 To be able to compare archival sources of Ottoman economic history both in terms of appearence and context.;
6 To be able to grasp the studies made by using primary sources of Ottoman economic history.;
7 To be able to evaluate the results of Ottoman economic deployment to European capitalism by using primary sources.;
8 To be able to grasp the sources of Ottoman economic mentality.;

4 Ibn-i Haldun’s ideas on economy
5 Samples for economic sources of early Ottoman period and documents about history of commerce
6 Classification of registers in the Ottoman Archive
7 The evaluation of Bursa İhtisab Kanunnâmesi (Law of Commerce) in terms of production and pricing mentality and its evaluation.
8 Midterm exam and the evaluation of course
9 Court records as sources for the Ottoman economic history Selected cases from Bursa court records
10 Importance of the information contained in the Tahrir registers
11 Information on economic history in the Muhimme registers and selected cases.
12 Contents of Avarız and Cizye registers and their evaluation as sources
