19 Objective of the Course: Giving the knowledge of basic sailing ships of commerce
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Able to identify the structural elements of the main and auxiliary ships.;
2 Be able to recognize the ship compartments.;
3 Moving ship equipment and describe the intended use. ;
4 Able to distinguish between different types of ships.;
5 Describe the structure and types of ropes and will be aware of things that should be considered during the use of ropes.;
6 Dry-docking of ships and comprehend the importance of boat paint scraper to pool operations.;
7 Be able to use the shipping terminology effectively.;

Week Theoretical Practical
1 Definition and history of the seamanship, development of modern seamanship.
2 General terms of shipping.
3 Use of the boat, the boat of terms related to the position and direction
4 Vessel types.
5 Lifeboats, types of lifeboats, lifeboat structure, lifeboat parts and materials.
6 Sailing
7 Ropes and Rope works.
8 REVIEW and MIDTERM EXAM
9 Bonding, stitching, and the use of ropes.
10 speed, length, tonnage measurements use at sea.
11 Moving ship equipment.
12 Ship maneuvering.
13 Ship maneuvering.
14 Dry - docking.
