First and Emergency Aid Program
General Description
The First and Emergency Aid program started to provide education at associate degree level in 2020
When the program is completed successfully and the program qualifications are met, an short cycle degree in First and Emergency Aid (5th level) is obtained.

Specific Admission Requirements
Acceptance to the Vocational Schools of Health is made according to the Higher Education Transfer Examination (YGS) / Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) score made by Student Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM). The student quota for the 2017-2018 academic year is 62. In case when the quota is left open, students are taken by OSYM with additional placement according to YGS-2 score.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
In order to have an associate degree upon completion of the First Aid and Emergency program, the students at the program must complete all of the subjects which are compulsory and elective (equal to 120 AKTS in total) and have a general weighted grade average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Profile of The Programme
The aim of the program is to train qualified health technicians who are able to give basic and advanced life support to the patients and sufferers at the period of pre-hospital, and identify the possible critic cases, and apply emergency care, and transport the patients and the wounded who are given the first aid to the hospitals with an ambulance. The program´s period of study is four semesters (including internship) An internship is made at the end of the second and fourth semesters.

Professionally evaluate and apply the knowledge gained through the theoretical and applied courses which are at the base level aided with course books, application tools and other resources in the field of First and Emergency Aid.

Inform the concerned people or institutions by using their gained basic knowledge related to the field of First and Emergency Aid, and transfer their thoughts and solutions suggestions related to the issues verbally and in writing.

Implement a given task independently by using their gained knowledge related to the field of First and Emergency Aid.

Act proper to the quality management and processes by being in the team in order to solve the present and unpredictable complex problems encountered during the applications related to the field of First and Emergency Aid and take personal responsibilities when needed.

Act proper to the public, scientific, cultural and ethic values at the steps of data collection, interpretation, application and declaring the results related to the field of First and Emergency Aid.

6.
Establish an active communication with the colleagues, patients, patient relatives, doctors and other health workers.

Know the institutions and organizations exist in the health system; act proper to the laws, regulations and directives related to their rights and responsibilities as an individual working in the field of First and Emergency Aid .

Use well the information and communication technologies, and the computer software related to the field of First and Emergency Aid .

9.
Interpret and evaluate data using their gained basic knowledge and skills of the field of First and Emergency Aid, and identify, analyse the problems, and take part/ responsibility in the studies planned to solve them.

Update their knowledge, skills and faculties of the field of First and Emergency Aid with the conciousness of life long learning, and attend the programs, vocational in-service activities and workshops in order to improve themselves individually and professionally.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
The graduates work as "Paramedics" in public and private health institutions and organizations. The graduates work mainly for the units which give emergency health services of health institutions and other institutions and organizations. Employment fields are the Emergency Services, 112 Emergency Stations, 112 Command Control Centres, Private Ambulance Services etc. of the public and private with/without beds health institutions and organizations under the Health Ministry. They can be appointed as Paramedics (Health Technicians) in accordance with the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS)

Access to Further Studies
The students of First Aid and Emergency program can be transferred to the undergraduate programs of "Emergency Service and Disaster Management", "Nursing Care", and "Nursing and Health Services" via the External Transfer Examination (DGS).

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
It is applied in accordance with the Article 32 of the Associate Degree and Undergraduate Education Regulations taken by the decision of BUU Senate.

Graduation Requirements
In order to complete the program with success, a student has to pass (equal to 120 ECTS) all of the courses exist in the program, and have at least 2.00 over 4.00 general weighted grade average, and complete the 30 work day internship at the end of the second and fourth semestres with success.

The language of instruction is Turkish and the number of quotas is 40. There is no preparatory program and evening education. Lessons are held in school classrooms. Field Applications are carried out in İnegöl State Hospital Emergency Service, Cardiology and Intensive Care units, 112 Command Center and Private Hospital emergency services.
