General Description

Brief History
Department of Turkish Language Teaching, as a unit of Education Faculty, trains Turkish teachers for secondary stage classes of elementary schools. The Department started to educate and teach at the year of 1993. The studies that conducted under the title of “The Reorganization of Teacher Training Programs of Education Faculties”, namely 8 year basic education application, started with the date of 16.08.1997 and the number of 4306, at 1997-1998 academic year. The package program prepared by YÖK, started to be applied at 1998-1999 academic in our faculty as in other education faculties. Since 2003-2004 academic year, an initiative started to construct a more dynamic program at Turkish Education Class Program by gradual improvements.

Qualification Awarded
This department offers 240 ECTS credits in the field of Turkish Education. Graduates who successfully completed the program with established qualifications shall have a bachelor degree in Turkish Education.

Specific Admission Requirements
Candidates must have high school diploma and an eligible score from the University Entrance Exam.

Specific arrangements for the recognition of prior learning
The provisions in “Regulation on Transfer among Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, and Subspecialty and the Principals of Credit Transfer among Institutions in Higher Education Institutions” are applied.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations
To obtain bachelor´s degree in Computer Education and Instructional Technology program the students must successfully complete the required and elective courses (total 240 ECTS) and maintain the minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0/4.0

Profile of The Programme
The aim of the department is to develop Turkish culture and art -especially Turkish language and education, to transmit the contemporary information in this field, to make efforts to construct the scientific universal basis of the created values, to make efforts for the acquisition of Atatürk principles and our Republic’s basic qualities, to depend all these activities at the basis of homeland and nation love and to make efforts to train individuals who has the same qualifications.

Key Learning Outcomes & Classified & Comparative
1. To have the competence to observe social, scientific and ethical values in the stages of collecting, interpreting and announcing the data related to Turkish education.
2. To have the competence of using information and communication technologies with the knowledge of computer software and hardware required by Turkish education.
3. To be able to use modern methods and techniques in scientific researches in Turkish education.
4. To conduct research and report independently in the field of Turkish education under the guidance of scientific research methods.
5. To be able to acquire the properties of the rules, texts and materials used in Turkish education and to transfer these acquired properties to the works to be done.
6. To be able to use qualitative and quantitative research research methods in Turkish education studies.
7. To follow the studies on mother tongue education in the international literature and to apply innovations about language education to Turkish education.
8. To be able to do interdisciplinary studies that will contribute to Turkish education.
9. To learn how to use Turkish language as a material for education and to make exercises about this.
10. To use the necessary databases to examine the literature related to Turkish education subjects.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples
Graduates can be employed as Turkish education teachers in both public and private schools under the Ministry of National Education.

Access to Further Studies
Upon successful completion of undergraduate degree, candidate can study in postgraduate program if s/he has eligible ALES exam score and has sufficient knowledge of a foreign language.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
A variety of assessment methods such as mid-term(s), assignment(s), exercise(s), project(s), practice(s), and a final exam are implemented in the program. Assessment methods may include classical test(s), multiple-choice test(s), homework(s), performance evaluation(s), and product evaluation(s). In order to graduate from the program, cumulative GPA must be minimum 2.00. A course grade is constituted by evaluating the above stated elements and given by using letters. To succeed in a course, students must get at least 40 points from the final exam and have at least 50 points average. Students who get AA, AA, BA, BB, CB and CC are considered successful. DC and DD are notes that conditionally successful. Students have to attend 70% in theoretical, 80% of practical sessions of courses.
