19 Objective of the Course: The aim of this course is to introduce the students to ancient Mediterranean societies and their culture. Social, economic, political and religious institutions will be examined within an historic context. Special topics will include the Roman law, democracy, Roman provincial system and Christianity.

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Identify the basic features of the Ancient Mediterranean World.;
2 Be able to identify the geographical boundaries of the ancient Mediterranean World.;
3 Be able to find, organize and assess the primary and secondary sources of the Mediterranean World.;
4 Comprehend the cultural, social and economic structures of ancient Mediterranean civilizations.;
5 Be able to examine the historical events in an objective viewpoint.;
6 Access historical data by using and comparing different sources.;
7 Define the museums containing important collections of ancient Mediterranean civilizations.;
8 Comprehend how the history of the past influences the political and social institutions of the present.;
9 Define the relation of the cultures and beliefs of ancient Mediterranean societies.;
