19 Objective of the Course: To have knowledge about literary works and cultural accumulation of ancient Greek society

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To be knowledgeable about the ancient Greek literature world.;
2 To be able to have knowledge about the famous works and writers written in ancient Greek language of Greek literature.;
3 Through these works, the students will be able to learn the cultural and intellectual structure, literary qualities and skills of Greek society and modern literary contributions;
4 The mythological, philosophical, historical and philological information about ancient times learned in other lessons of the department can be reinforced by these works belonging to the intellectual section of the society;
5 To be able to read the works of the Antique period personally and to deepen the learned ones with the literature thanks to the pieces selected from ancient Greek literary works translated into Turkish.;
6 To be able to learn about the works and writers written in Ancient Greece from 1800 to 500 years ago and to be able to personally witness the ancient Greek literary world.;
7 To be able to complete the details of the political, social and cultural life of the society in all directions by combining literary information with historical information through authors and works learned in chronological order.;
8 To be able to dominate the texts by translating the easy cues selected from the works with the help of the ancient Greek grammar learned beforehand.;
9 To be able to understand the development of ancient Greek literature and its connection with social events through chronological order and the works analyzed according to the written literary periods.;
10 After the theoretical information is given, it is possible to enrich with the literary texts to obtain information about antiquity by combining selected texts from the authors' texts and creating an interactive course environment and reading the theoretical information.;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 The birth and development of Ancient Greek, Ancient Greek dialects and their characteristics. The birth and development of ancient Greek literature, literary activities that prepare literary background.
2 Archaic Period Ancient Greek Literature: Epic Age (epic heroism) - epic poetry, pre-Homeric literature. Hymnos, Aiodos and rhapsodos. Reading samples of Hymnos.
3 Homer, Illias, Odysseia. Presentation of the contents and important parts of the works by the students
4 Didactic epos: Hesiodos. Reading important chords from Hesiodos' poems
5 Classical Period: Lyrical Poetry, Elegia, Iambos, Chorus. Read examples from the writings of these followers
6 The beginning of the prose: Seven wisdom and the first philosophers. An overview of the authors' teachings and trailers
7 The beginning of history writing, Herodotos.
8 ttica period. Tragedian's origins, characteristics. Players, decor and costumes, choir and tragedy competitions. The first tragedy poets, Aiskhylos,   Presentations of the students about the contents of Aiskhylos' works
9 Sophokles and Euripides, Student presentations on the contents of the works of Sophocles and Euripides
10 Comedy. Authors and works. Aristophanes, antecedents and contemporaries, Menandros, presentation of the contents of the works of the students by Aristophanes
11 Historians: Thukydides, Xenophon
12 Philosophy. Sophists, Plato and Aristotle, Presentations of the students about the contents of works of Plato and Aristotle
13 Oratory. Demosthenes, their predecessors and contemporaries
14 Roman and Byzantine Period. Prose (History, Geography and Philosophy), Novel, Poems, Christian Literature
