19 Objective of the Course: To teach the basic concepts of systematical anatomy of domestic birds
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 The basic concepts of systematical anatomy of domestic birds;
2 The domestic bird species in veterinary anatomy and their places in zoological system.;
3 The locomotor system, similarities and differences from mammals of the domestic birds;
4 Normal position, shape, structure, natural posture of the viscera, e.g. digestive, respiratory, urinary, genital organs and the relations with neighbor organs of the domestic birds, comparatively;
5 Comparative anatomical features of the viscera, e.g. digestive, respiratory, urinary, genital organs and circulatory, nervous, sensory organs of the domestic birds;
6 The normal structure and localization of visceral organs, which were used by veterinary practitions, in clinical examination, operation and exentrations.;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 Introduction to avian anatomy, Domestic bird species and factors that facilitate fly. Description of the anatomical directions on avian skeletons and models.
2 Passive locomotor system - Osteologia Examination of the cartilage and bone samples on avian skeleton and cadaver.
3 Passive locomotor system - Artrologia Dissection and examination of articulations and ligaments
4 Active locomotor system - Myologia Dissection of muscles of cadaver
5 Digestive system anatomy of birds Dissection of digestive system organs
6 Respiratory system anatomy of birds Dissection of respiratory system organs
7 Urinary organs of birds Dissection of urinary system organs
8 Female genital organs of birds Dissection of female genital organs
9 Male genital organs of birds Dissection of male genital organs
10 Endocrine system anatomy of birds Dissection of endocrine system organs
11 Circulatory system anatomy of birds Dissection of circulatory system organs
12 Nervous system anatomy of birds Dissection of nervous system organs
