19 Objective of the Course: In this course, knowledges about impacts of emigration and population movement on foreign policies of states and policies of international organizations on emigration and population movement are acquired by students is purposed. In this context, primarily some concepts such as emigration, remigration, emigrant, refugee, asylum, asylum seeker, origin state, target state, transit state will be explicated to construct theorical substructure in accordance with various emigrant theories then emigrant policies of primarily Turkey, some states (USA, Russia, China, Japan,… etc) will be explained. Emigrant policies of Turkey and European Union (EU) and European Commnities (EC) will be analyzed within context of Turkey’s full membership process to EC and hence EU.

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To be able to use basic concepts about international emigration and population movements appropriately.;
2 To be able to determine place and importance of emigration in History of Ottoman Empire and Turkish Republic with heritages of emigrations occured in Ottoman Empire and Turkish Republic.;
3 To be able to acquire knowledge about impacts of international emigration policies on foreign policies of states and policies of international organizations related to this issue.;
4 To be able to interpret current issues about international emigrations analytically via reading sources in Turkish and Foreign literature.;

8 Emigration policy of Turkish Republic: Economic based emigrations/labour emigrations and impacts
9 Emigration and national/international security policies in pre-Cold War Era
10 Emigration and national/international security policies in post-Cold War Era
11 Emigration and Security policies of USA
12 Emigration and Security policies of EU
13 Emigration and Security policies of other actors in international system (Russia, China, Japan,…etc)
