19 Objective of the Course: To teach at a level that can evaluate settlement geography as a whole and the relations of rural settlements with the natural geographic environment.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development To be able to determine the place and importance of settlements in the relationship between human and natural environment.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Describe settlement geography and their related to terminology;
2 Describe settlement geography supportive sciences.;
3 Describe elements making up rural settlements.;
4 Perform the distribution of factors affecting rural settlements and the reasons for these factors.;
5 Define and use properly the terms such as lifestyle, settlement type, settlement form etc.;
6 To be able to define the rural habitation patterns on the earth and make their distribution.;
7 Associating rural settlements with natural environmental elements.;

2 Relationship between settlements and geography.
3 The development of settlement geography and the scope of rural settlements.
4 Houses as the smallest unit of rural settlements.
5 Natural shelters and temporary rural housing.
6 The relationship between the usage characteristics of the dwellings and the lifestyle of the people.
7 Permanent rural houses and their types according to building materials.
8 The distribution of rural dwellings in the world.
9 Certain rural settlement textures-patterns.
10 Relationships between rural settlements and topography
11 Relationships between rural settlements and climate
12 Relationships between rural settlements and agricultural areas.
13 Relationships between rural settlements and culture and social structure.
14 The distribution of rural settlements on earth.
