19 Objective of the Course: The aim of this course is to explain the main issues, theories, and applications of environmental psychology, which mainly examined the relationship between people and their environment, to the students.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development You will have knowledge for the issues on underlying factors of pro-environmental behaviors, and the relationship between environment and human behavior / well-being.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To recognize the main terms and theories of the field.;
2 To evaluate studies of environmental psychology and its connections to the related fields, on a historical process.;
3 To determine people’s usage of the physical environment for the interpersonal relationships;
4 To determine the environmental factors that effects people;
5 To determine the real life applications of environmental psychology knowledge;
6 To realize the role of human on the environment;
7 To gain a sensitive point of view to the environment;
8 To be able to search for scientific solutions to the environmental problems of daily life;

1 The presentation of the course outline and the main subjects in general
2 The historical background of the field, and field’s relations with other subfields of psychology and research methods which used in environmental psychology
3 Fundamental theories
4 Discussion on fundamental theories and introduction to environmental perception and cognition
5 elaboration on the concepts and theories of environmental perception and cognition
6 Factors that affect perception and cognition and the concept of cognitive maps, discussion on the examples
7 Privacy, definitions, theories and functions
8 Development of privacy through ages, Privacy Regulation Theory
9 A short summary and Mid-Term Exam
10 Definitions and Theories of personal space and measurement methods and techniques.
11 The consequences of personal space violations and Territoriality
12 Development, change and measurement of environmental attitudes
13 The consequences of some environmental factors like crowding, pollution, noise pollution, and stress, on people
14 Localism and place identity
