19 Objective of the Course: To give detail of the subjects about pet animals which are thougt in course of the special surgery extremely and to teach theoretical knowledges and the operation techniques at clinician’s level, to teach enough knowledge about small animal surgery.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development The student gets information about small animal surgery.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 The student learns the principles of general and special surgery principles.;
2 The student learns special operative techniques according to systems. For this reason, students carry out the following operations [Othaematom (punction, incision techniques), Tracheotomie, Laparotomie (Median, Paramedian), Enterotomie, Castration] practically in dogs and cats.;
3 Perform a complete clinical examination and demonstrate ability in clinical decision making. ;
4 Develop appropriate treatment plans and administer treatment in the interests of the animals under their care with regard to the resources available. ;
5 Demonstrate an ability of lifelong learning and a commitment to learning and professional development. This includes recording and reflecting on professional experience and taking measures to improve performance and competence.;
6 Perform aseptic procedures appropriately ;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 Description of the course. General principles. Preoperative- Postoperative care and nutrition.
2 Tonsillectomie. Oro-nasale fistula, cleft palate, oral tumour operations.
3 Othematom operation (Punction,Incision, Isensee and Zepp techniques).
4 Hinz and Zepp tecchniques in otitis externa.
5 Tracheotomie, Oesophagotomie.
6 Thoracocentesis, paracentesis.
7 Some special suture techniques (Linea alba, gastric and intestinal suture techniques).
8 Laparotomie in dogs and cats (Median, Paramedian, Paralumbal fossa, Paracostal).
9 Surgery of gastrointestinal tract (Gastrotomie, Enterotomie).
10 Enterectomie and Anastomosis Techniques (end to end, end to side, side to side, T anastomosis).
11 Surgery of vesica urinaria and urethra (Sistotomie, Urethrotomie).
12 Hernia operations in dogs and cats (H. umbilicalis, H. ventralis, H. perinealis., H. inguinalis).
13 Castration techniques in dogs and cats.
14 Operations that performed in rectum (Prolapsus recti operation, rectum amputation, rectopexie), anal sac extirpation in dogs.
