19 Objective of the Course: To assimilate knowledge of the religious and social history of India. To have an advanced understanding of the common concepts and beliefs of Indian religions. To identify and systematize the information about Indian religions in Islamic sources and to evaluate the value of this information with current sources. Based on this, to gain the ability to scientifically analyze other religions with a comparative approach.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development Recognizing the accumulation of Muslims and gaining self-confidence through the information given by classical Islamic sources about Indian beliefs.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 The student learns Indian religions in a professional level.;
2 He knows Islamic sources on Indian religions;
3 He identifies and classifies the knowledge on Indian religions in the Muslim literature. ;
4 He compares common terms and beliefs in Indian religions, and discerns similar and different aspects;
5 He improves his ability of foreign languages to investigate Indian religions in a professional level.;
6 He can make observation and have interviews in India to confirm his information about Indian religions. ;
7 He cooperates with scholars and academic institutions, and contributes this field.;
8 He evaluates the information provided by Muslim authors such as Bîrûnî and Şehristânî.;
9 He generalizes his approach to Indian religions, and develops a new approach or method.;
10 He can produce comparative studies on this area.;
