19 Objective of the Course: To introduce equestrian facilities and materials, tools and equipment used for horse and rider in the stall, during training and competitions /races, demonstrate their properties and functions, care and maintenance.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development Information about the horse and rider materials, auxiliary equipment and facilities used in the stable, training and races.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Distinguishes horse and rider equipment for different equestrian branches and is aware of their general technical properties;
2 Knows necessary tools and equipment for most common equestrian sport branches and uses them accordingly;
3 Knows different tools used in the stall and is able to apply them appropriately and functionally;
4 Is aware of general properties and structures of equestrian facilities;
5 Is able to decide on the location and size of a facility, and to analyse and calculate expenses and maintenance ;
6 Knows and applies horse transport and travel equipment ;
7 Is aware of technical properties of horse vans and applies security measures;
8 Knows about and applies periodical care and reparation of tools and equipment for equestrian sports;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 Rider equipment and their properties used for different equestrian branches
2 Horse equipment and their properties used for different equestrian branches
3 Bridle, harness and their parts, effects and usage, kerb and its parts, types and applications
4 Types, materials and parts of saddles used for different purposes
5 Equipment used for horse carriages, functions and applications
6 Tools used for horse grooming, protective materials and periodical care
7 Tools and equipment used at a breeding station
8 Planning, feasibility and construction of an equestrian facility
9 Consideration of different factors (climate, location, ventilation, air conditioning, heat isolation, fire protection etc) for the establishment of a facility
10 Stall types, boxes, floor material, forage and feed deposition, midden, accessory rooms (saddle room, farriery, sick bay, social rooms etc.)
11 Manege types (open, closed), lunging ring and machines, couloir, treadmill, paddocks and pasture
12 Establishment of different field riding paths (with or without obstacles) and landscaping
13 Types of race tracks, floor materials (mud, sand, grass, polytrack, training tracks) their care and keeping, drainage, stabilization, machines and equipment for maintenance
14 Periodical care of ground materials at race tracks
