Objective of the Course:
The primary goal of this course is to provide students with a framework to understand the evolution and development of Turkish civil architecture. Along with the following objectives, students are expected to learn key concepts in Turkish civil architecture and analyze significant elements in this field.
Understanding the History of Turkish Civil Architecture: Students will explore the processes from the Ottoman Period to the Republic Era to comprehend the historical evolution of Turkish civil architecture.
Traditional Turkish House Architecture: Students will acquire fundamental skills to understand and analyze elements of traditional Turkish house architecture, including structural design and interior arrangements.
Wood and Stone Architecture: Students will evaluate the role of materials such as wood and stone in Turkish civil architecture, understanding how these materials impact architectural designs.
Turkish Urban Planning and Public Spaces: The course will cover the role of elements like traditional Turkish city planning, hans, caravanserais, and madrasah architecture in urban settings.
Modernization and Contemporary Architecture: Students will assess the modernization process initiated during the Republic Era and analyze innovations in contemporary Turkish civil architecture.
Research and Presentation Skills: Students will develop research, information gathering, and effective presentation skills to delve into specific topics and articulate their findings.
