Learning Outcomes:

1	To learn about the structure of Ottoman law.;
2	To learn about the nature of the sharia-customary law distinction in the Ottoman Empire.;
3	To learn about the sources of Ottoman law;
4	To learn about the legal literature of the Ottoman period.;
5	To learn about institutions and legal practices specific to Ottoman law;
6	Getting to know the leading jurists of the Ottoman period;
7	To learn the current legal issues of the Ottoman period and the search for solutions for them.;
8	To learn about the act of codification and the first examples of codification.;
