19 Objective of the Course: To acquaint students with the development, history and current status of agricultural cooperatives.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development The new types of successful cooperative structures developed in European countries have stimulated a dialogue on the benefits and the opportunities brought by these structures. This subject is highly relevant for countries taking into account that in a capitalized economy, agriculture is a simple and efficient response to its needs. Using case studies for different types of agricultural forms of cooperation, the main issues encountered in this field are outlined and systemic solutions which could generate a proliferation of cooperatives are proposed. So that: iIn order to effectively response to the economic dynamic, Turkish cooperatives must adapt to an extended and complex environment and must have the ability to find performance among resource-poor populations.
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Identify and explain the principles of cooperatives. ;
2 Learn why cooperatives exist and how cooperatives are managed.;
3 Understand the value and function of agricultural cooperatives.;
4 Be able to explain how the agricultural cooperative business model differs from other business models.;
5 Understand the management and the legal framework of cooperatives.;
6 Be able to discuss and evaluate current operational and managerial challenges experienced faced by agricultural cooperatives.;
7 Develop interpersonal skills and tools for future work and study.;
8 Be able to use gained managerial and organizational skills on issues of non-agricultural cooperatives and organizations.;

2 The principles of cooperatives.
3 The comparative structure between cooperatives and other business organizations.
4 State and cooperative relations. Cooperative legislation in Turkey.
5 Federative structure of cooperatives.
6 Agricultural cooperatives in Turkey. Managerial board of Cooperatives and their functions.
7 Classification of agricultural cooperatives.
8 Reviev and Midterm.
9 Agricultural Purchasing and Agricultural Processing cooperatives.
10 Agricultural Sales and Agricultural Credit cooperatives.
11 Agricultural Services and Agricultural Insurance cooperatives.
12 Non-agricultural cooperatives.
13 Cooperatives in the World and the EU.
14 Problems faced by the Cooperatives in Turkey, and suggestions.
