19 Objective of the Course: To learn the organization and units in Medical Biochemistry Central Laboratories. To learn the organization and units in Medical Pathology Laboratories.
20 Contribution of the Course to Professional Development Providing students with knowledge, skills and safe working principles about current biochemistry and pathology methods until the diagnosis stage after the samples are taken
21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Access to the devices in the Medical Biochemistry Central Laboratory, sample control, calibration etc. to monitor the processes of evaluation of the study, control results and to actively assist the responsible.;
2 To have general knowledge and ideas about internal / external quality control processes carried out in routine tests in the Medical Biochemistry Central Laboratory.;
3 To learn and develop the ability to take blood from patients of different sexes and ages (children, adults, elderly, pregnant, cancer or blood disease etc.) registered in the Medical Biochemistry Central Laboratory.;
4 To understand the necessity of using the techniques in routine pathology laboratory in pathological diagnosis processes.;
5 To understand and apply the techniques used in Medical Pathology Laboratories.;
6 To have the ability to make inferences about pathological diagnosis processes and to evaluate the results.;
22 Course Content:
Week Theoretical Practical
1 To follow and have knowledge about the procedures from the registration and sampling to the analysis process in Medical Biochemistry Laboratories.
2 To learn and develop the ability to take blood from registered patients of different sexes and ages (child, adult, elderly, pregnant, cancer or blood disease etc.) To obtain information about the process of preparing the mail taken after the blood collection to the devices and registration to the automation program.
3 To learn the organization in the Hematology Laboratory.
4 To learn the organization in the Emergency Laboratory.
5 To learn the organization in the Routine Laboratory.
6 To learn the organization in the Urine Laboratory.
7 To learn organization in Allergy, Hormone and Electrophoresis laboratory.
8 To have information about the functioning in Routine Medical Pathology Laboratories.
9 To have information about the types of samples sent to Medical Pathology Laboratories and the acceptance and rejection criteria of the samples.
10 To have information about the procedures applied in Cytology Laboratory.
11 To have information about the procedures applied in the Histochemistry Laboratory.
12 To have information about the procedures applied in the Immunohistochemistry Laboratory.
13 To have information about the procedures applied in Operating Room Frozen unit.
14 To have information about tissue tracking, tissue fixation and tissue dye types. To have information about Medical Pathology Archiving System.
