19 Objective of the Course: The main aim of this course is to teach basic categories of the Ottoman economic system and the role of the Ottoman state within economy and the political, social cultural and economic dimensions of Ottoman Empire

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 Students will be able to learn basic categories of the Ottoman economic system and the role of the Ottoman state within economy;
2 Students will be able to learn the peculiarities of the Ottoman economic mind prevalent roughly from the sixteenth century up to the beginning of the nineteenth century;
3 Students will be able to learn the backbones of the Ottoman economic organisation like: iltizam, mukataa, esnaf;
4 Students will be able to learn tımar system as military power financier and taxation policy;
5 Students will be able to learn capital formation;
6 Students will be able to learn the monetary system ;
7 Students will be able to learn the economic and social changes of Ottoman Empire in the nineteenth century;
8 Students will be able to see the differences between Western European mercantilist model and Ottoman Empire’e foreign trade policy;
9 Students will be able to learn the influence of the European capitalism on the Ottoman Empire;
10 Students will be able to examine the political, social cultural and economic dimensions of Ottoman Empire ;
