19 Objective of the Course: General background of the evolution of English and introductory information of phonetics, morphology and syntax of English will be given to the learners of ELT and the learners will be equipped with different aspects of the language.

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To have the overall knowledge of the evolution of the English language as an outcome of that course.;
2 To gain enough knowledge of sounds of English, their specific properties.;
3 To be equipped with substantial knowledge about word structure of English, its roots and affixation process.;
4 To comprehend the knowledge of other word formation processes in addition to affixation. ;
5 To have the satisfactory knowledge about the distinguishing points of the sentence structure and its constituents. ;
6 To reach an advanced level of competency about the phrase and its types. ;
7 To have a detailed information about word phrases and their functions in syntactic structures.;

2 Sounds of English (The segments of sound, how sounds are produced, speech organs, voicing)
3 Consonants of English (How and where they are produced) Articulation Types
4 Vowels of English ( Classification of Vowels basing on the speech organs) Diphthongs
5 Phonology of English – Stress, intonation patterns
6 Word (word structure and classes; word formation) Morpheme units
7 Affixation – Derivation / Inflection /Roots /Bound Roots

9 Sentence Structure of English Constituents of a sentence (Categories/
10 Phrase / Phrase Structure
11 Noun, Adjective and Adverb Phrase Structures
