19 Objective of the Course: The aim of this course is to obtain information to students about the concept of development, underdevelopment; Theories of underdevelopment and third-world; Westernization process in developing countries; The European Union and U.S. policies toward the third world; foreign relations of third world countries and their expectations from developed countries; status of developing countries after the Cold War; D-8 and its importance

21 Learning Outcomes:
1 To be able to analyze the definition and causes of underdevelopment ;
2 To be able to put forward ideas about the developing countries considering underdevelopment theories;
3 To be able to put forward ideas about the westernization process in developing countries;
4 To be able to analyze the European Union and the United States of America’s relations with third world countries;
5 To be able to understand the causes of failure of third world countries in their foreign policy;
6 To be able to analyze the problems of Third World countries ;
7 To be able to participate in discussions about the areas of ethnic conflict in Third World countries and the regional and international conflicts;
8 To be able to understand the importance of D-8 ;

4 The historical evolution of the international system and it’s new actors
5 Heterogeneity of the Third World and Westernization process in developing countries
6 The demands of the developing countries for new economic order and the results of it
7 The European Union's relations with third world countries (Midterm Exam)
8 The United States of America’s relations with Third World countries
9 Evaluation of the development process of the developing countries
10 Negative foreign policy factors in Third World countries
11 Status of Third World countries after the Cold War
12 The areas of ethnic conflict in Third World countries
13 Developing countries and the types of global conflicts
14 The importance of a D-8 as a model for development and cooperation
